He was reportedly heard shouting, "Kill me, end my life." “This terrible incident has affected many people. We are thinking of the victims and their families – especially the brave employee of rail staff whose relatives are being supported by trained officers,” stated a high-ranking police officer. Union Reaction and Calls for Action Rail associations were quick to commend staff and demand increased measures. One union leader said he would be “requesting immediate discussions with authorities, rail employers and law enforcement to guarantee that we have the strongest possible assistance, resources and robust procedures in place”.
