An aircraft flying over a well-attended southern California coastline suddenly began spiraling uncontrollably, eventually dropping height and plunging into a cluster of palm groves as beachgoers looked on.

Recordings shared on social media depict the chopper starting to spin near the beach then falling towards the perimeter of the coast, where it gets stuck among palm groves and a staircase near the Pacific Coast highway.

First Aid Update

Local firefighters stated five people were rushed to the hospital involving a pair who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” after the incident on Saturday.

Three people on the street were injured. Specifics on their injuries were not yet released.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
